The Impact Scholarship, offered by the BE Impactful Foundation, is dedicated to supporting high school graduates in the Greater Charleston, SC area who are passionate about making a difference in their communities. This scholarship is awarded to students who have demonstrated academic excellence, a strong commitment to community service, and a desire to create meaningful change through their chosen field of study.
For the 2025 scholarship cycle, our goal is to award two $1,000 scholarships to deserving high school seniors.
Celebrating our 2024 Impact Scholarship Winners.
Last year, we were honored to award two outstanding students, Tahra Brandon, and Malachi Milton, with Impact Scholarships for the work they have already done and the work they are going to do.
Tahra Brandon – Fort Dorchester High School Alumna
📍 Freshman, North Carolina A&T State University
🎓 Major: Criminal Justice & Psychology | Minor: Spanish
Tahra’s dedication to education and leadership made her a standout recipient. She is committed to advocating for underrepresented communities in the criminal justice system by becoming a Criminal Psychiatrist. In her scholarship essay, she shared:
"Education is a privilege and a necessity for my career success and my goals to serve those around me. Being able to access education means being able to serve groups that do not have the same resources that may help influence behaviors. As a criminal psychiatrist, I will evaluate the relationships between mental health and crimes committed, advocating for those who are not always given accurate representation."
Malachi Milton – West Ashley High School Alumnus
📍 Freshman, Florida A&M University
🎓 Major: Architecture
Malachi’s passion for sustainable, eco-friendly housing and his drive to create accessible, green architecture for communities in need set him apart as a recipient. He is already making strides in his field, securing an architectural internship in Texas and continuing to give back by volunteering at BE Impactful’s 2024 Holiday Festival. In his scholarship essay, he wrote:
“My firm will strictly work on designing residential homes that use non-polluting materials. With a focus on sourcing non-toxic materials and implementing cheaper energy alternatives, the hope is that the buildings I design will be more affordable to purchase and address housing needs in the community."
